  • Mental Health Worker for the Trauma Disorders Inpatient Unit

    • October 2000 – January 2002

    • Provided treatment for adult individuals with a trauma history who were also acutely suicidal and/or engaging in self-harming behaviors; diagnoses treated included: PTSD, Dissociative Disorder NOS, DID, Major Depressive Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorder NOS, and Eating Disorders.

    • Responsibilities included: crisis intervention, 1:1 check-ins with patients, patient rounds, maintaining a safe unit, co-leading groups, documenting patient progress or difficulties, communicating with the treatment team, and attending weekly clinical supervision facilitated by Dr. Richard Loewenstein and Dr. Susan Wait.

    • Lead the psycho-educational symptom management group “Containment I.”

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

  • DBT Intensive Training Course - June 2003 – December 2003

    • Instructed by Suzanne Witterholt, M.D., and Cedar Koons, MSW

    • Received extensive training on the fundamentals of DBT and how to apply those concepts and skills to individual therapy and to skills groups.

    • Developed a protocol for initiating a DBT program that could be added to the current treatment protocol being used at Sheppard Pratt on the Trauma Disorders Units.

  • Advanced Topics in DBT with Special Emphasis on Adolescents - June 2006

     

    • Instructed by Charlie Swenson, M.D., and Alec Miller, Psy.D.

  • Addressed core treatment issues in working with adolescents with Borderline Personality Disorder.
